3-Day Clinician Training: Emotion Focused Skills Training for Youth (EFST-Y)
We are excited to invite you to a unique training opportunity in Emotion Focused Skills Training for Youth (EFST-Y)—a compassionate, evidence-informed therapeutic model designed to meet the pressing mental health needs of youth and young adults facing moderate to severe challenges.
Whether you have previously trained in Emotion Focused Skills Training for Parents (EFST-P) or are new to this approach, this training is open to all therapists—no prerequisites required.
EFST-Y was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic in direct response to the complex and often overwhelming mental health crises seen in youth, including:
Suicide attempts
Severe depression and anxiety
Trauma
Peer victimization
School refusal
Aggression
And other cases where traditional treatments have fallen short
Created with clinical consultation from Dr. Joanne Dolhanty, the founder of EFST, EFST-Y builds on the principles of Emotion-Focused Therapy. It empowers clinicians to:
Deepen emotional awareness and self-efficacy in youth
Understand youth struggles within their emotional and environmental context
Support families as active agents of change
Craft meaningful, individualized treatment plans grounded in compassion
EFST-Y is adaptable for individual, group, and family therapy, making it ideal for clinicians working across a wide range of settings—with children, adolescents, families and young adults. If you're looking for a powerful, flexible model to support your most challenging cases—or simply want to deepen your therapeutic toolbox—EFST-Y may meet your needs.
Format: Virtual, ZOOM
When: November 10th, 11th and 12th, 2025 9:00AM(EDT) till 3:00PM(EDT) each training day.

Clinicians also get a youth workbook that still in draft.
